Defining Regions to Specify Where to Insert

In order to ensure that dataspan.ai inserts objects on background images in realistic places, after you have imported a Dataset of background images, you can define a Region in those images in which dataspan.ai will place objects on background images.

For example, for blight on potato plant leaves, you would define that the blight must be placed on the leaf itself.

To use Regions:

To add a region, click the ADD REGION button. Provide dataspan.ai with some images that include segmentation masks of the Region of interest, such as potato leaves. This defines where specific objects can be placed. If you have segmentation masks ready, you can use them directly in dataspan.ai. Alternatively, you can use the dataspan.ai application to manually mark the Region of interest on these images.

Note: Later, when defining Concepts, you will be able to select this Region to define that objects will only be inserted within this Region on background images.

Tip: In dataspan.ai, you can then inspect the Dataset to ensure the Region is placed correctly.
