Step 4, Creating Concept Mask Variations

This option enables you to choose the method of inserting an object into an image so that it appears natural and varied each time it is added.

In the Choose shape variation method field, select one of the following options:

  • Fill Entire Region: Fills an entire Region with the object being inserted.

  • Basic Shapes: This simple case inserts objects that are basic shape models that fit easily into a bounding box. It models the mask shapes in the classes (of the Datasets) that were provided while defining the Concept.

  • Based on Concept Masks: This more sophisticated option is especially suited to irregularly shaped objects, such as thin cracks or scratches. It creates variations of the masks of the objects from the Concept’s foreground Dataset to fill in the object into an image so that it appears natural and varied each time it is added. Selecting this option displays an additional field named Strict Placement (Yes/No), which prioritizes maintaining the original shape, at the cost of reducing the variety of objects that are inserted.

Tip: The Basic Shapes option provides a more straightforward result, while the Class Mask Variations option may create a wider variety of results. We recommend that you experiment with both options.

  1. Click the CREATE CONCEPT button. While the Concept is being generated, the Concepts page is displayed. The new Concept will be added there as a faded image and become clickable after it is ready. For example, in the picture below, the two Concepts on the left are ready, and the Concept on the right is being processed:

This process may take up to 2 hours.

After the Concept is ready, click on the Concept’s box to go to the next step, which is to define Concept Presets, as described below.
